Sylvie Dhaene (° 1971) is director of the House of Alijn in Ghent (B) since 1998. This museum covers the cultural heritage of everyday life. Daily life in the 20th century is the core business of the museum. Besides its activities of managing collections, the museum attaches great importance to implicate its public in its operations in a cooperative and sustainable way. The House of Alijn has been awarded with the Flemish Heritage Prize (2002) and the Museum Public Award (2006). Sylvie Dhaene graduated in Psychology, Pedagogical Sciences and Arts at the University of Ghent. In 2010 the University of Antwerp awarded her the prize of Culture Manager of the Year.
