Bio

Jeanna Nikolov-Ramírez joined the Department of Research and Development of the Austrian National Library in 2008. She holds a MA in Graphic Design and Advertising from the University of Applied Arts, Vienna, Austria and Elisava Escola Superior de Disseny, Barcelona, Spain. She is a certified project manager and has many years of experience in digital information retrieval and the academic field having been the director of postgraduate courses at Danube University Krems in the Department for Cultural Studies, Center for Image Science for five years. Jeanna headed the university’s masters programs in digital collections management, media art histories and image science for several years, bringing together experts from informatics, business administration, libraries, museums and archives. She also taught various classes on subjects such as Project Management in the cultural field, Visual Perception and Information Design and was involved in the digitisation of the image collection of the Monastery Göttweig. She has published on subjects of digital asset management, photo history and image analysis. At the Austrian National Library she was involved in the EU projects IMPACT, PLANETS and EuropeanaConnect, in the latter as project manager. Currently Jeanna Nikolov-Ramírez is the operational project manager of Austrian Books Online - the Public-Private Partnership between Google and the Austrian National Library in which 600.000 books are being digitized and made accessible online.
