Douwe Huizing is director of Drenthe Archive, the regional institution for the archives of the province of Drenthe. Having studied Economic and Social History at the University of Groningen, his career is focused on mediating between information and the public, first in the area of the public library, then in the museum en now in an archive. He started his career at the Library Service Institute for the province of Groningen. He specialized in education and marketing and managed these departments. Then he joined the Veenkoloniaal Museum to manage this regional-historic museum in the eastern part of Groningen. Now Douwe is managing the Drenthe Archive, that is focused on a new concept to make its collections accessible and interactive for a broad visitor base and other heritage partners in Drenthe.
