Dick Rijken graduated as a cognitive psychologist, with major excursions into Sonology and Computer Science. He was head of the Interaction Design department at the Utrecht School of the Arts in the early nineties. Since then, he has worked at VPRO, a broadcasting organisation, as project manager and strategic consultant for Internet projects. Currently, he is director of STEIM, and lector in ‘Information Technology and Society’ at the ‘The Hague University of Applied Sciences’ where he studies the role of cultural institutions in the context of Web 2.0. He also works as an independent consultant for companies and non-profit organsations and as a lecturer and project coach on strategic and conceptual issues in digital communication.
