Bio
I started as a photographer and visual artist. The first years I received government stipends and had several exhibitions in museums in Holland and also abroad. Initially I started working in The Kruithuis, a museum for modern art and design in Den Bosch. I started giving tours and making museum classes. In addition, I taught photography, drawing and painting with ancient materials. In 2005 I started as director of the regional museum of Flipje in the town Tiel. In the six years that I now work (we have a small team of 2 FTE, 45 volunteers) we managed to rebuild all of the five museumfloors, we renovated, updated and made it interactive. Here I use the many options you can get with color, sound, computers, monitors, and whatever I can use to improve the way we tell a story with our collection. I consider the museum as an "entry level museum", a museum where you go if it is the first time. The threshold is literally low and everyone is welcome. We also make special programs for groups such as immigrants, who in a very different way look upon museum than we're used to. Our museum is on facebook, linkedin and on twitter. We commuicate in different ways with our audience. On facebook we have more than 2000 friends! Now I am developing a new heritage game together with twelve other museums. We are working together and join forces to get a better product that can be used by museums individually and together.
